ingredients:
1 cup frozen ripe banana chunks (about 1 banana's worth)
1 cup frozen blueberries, strawberries, or raspberries
1/2 tbsp Kroger natural creamy peanut butter, or almond butter if you prefer
what to do:
the night before, cut ripe bananas (yellow with brown spots) into 1/2 inch coins
freeze banana coins overnight in freezer bag
in a good quality blender, put 1 cup banana on bottom & 1 cup berries on top
fill with water just below the top of the berries
add peanut butter
poke berries with spoon a bit because the water makes them freeze together
cover blender with lid & pulse on "frozen drink" or "ice crush" setting until blended
smoothie should be the consistency of a Wendy's frostie
makes:
a delicious glassful (about 260 calories)
notes:
if your guts can tolerate yogurt, a 1/2 cup of lowfat plain yogurt on top is great
if you use strawberries, the blender might appreciate if you cut them in quarters first
avoid buying the frozen premixed berries because blackberries are not fodmap-friendly
